Here at Dogtastic Poodles, we strive to make the puppies' and the new families' transitions together as easy as possible. We focus on making our puppies well rounded members of your family. Here is what makes our program so different.
At Dogtastic Poodles, we take pride in the fact that we health test both parents. We ensure that they are cleared of genetic disease and disorders. We also take the extra step to make sure the parents are OFA tested, which screens any potential painful genetic diseases.
Our puppies begin ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) and ESI (Early Scent Introduction) at 3 days old and going forward. This process exposes the pups to different scent and sensory exposures.
Starting on Day 3, Dogtastic pup will start a curriculum of exposure to different sounds, sensations, textures, and sights. They will also be physically challenged appropriately as they grow. This will build their confidence and aid them in learning to problem solve. They will be following the Badass Breeder Advanced Curriculum.
We use the guidelines of the Badass Breeder Program to conduct the temperament testing. Temperament testing is conducted at 7 weeks of age. This process allows us to evaluate each puppy's traits on an individual basis. When finding this information, it allows us to respect the pup's traits and assists us in placing each puppy with the appropriate family.
Scorecards of the evaluation are available to potential families.
At Dogtastic Poodles, our mamas are lovingly cared for during their entire pregnancy. They are given supplements to ensure healthy pregnancy, taken to vet visits, given plenty of belly rubs to soothe them. Our Mamas are introduced into their whelping area about a week before delivery to get acclimated to their new space. We are there every step of the way, down into the actual delivery. Dogtastic Poodles are there to assist them in any way needed.
We also introduce our puppies to potty training beginning at week 3. This exercise is so important to introduce early. So when they go home to their forever home, they will be familiar with the idea of going to potty.
Crate training is also introduced to our puppies before they go home. Although some don't agree with crating a dog, it has proven to be a way to keep the puppy safe when they can not be supervised. Here at Dogtastic Poodles, we believe crate training is an important exercise.
